This is one of those times when I don't know where to start.  I don't claim to know all the facts of this case to I'm going to speak in generalities to make my point.  What makes parents hurt their own children?  Stefani said it best this morning: a mother is the one person a child needs when they're afraid or hurt or sad.  What if that's the person that is creating the fear, the violence and the sadness.  It is so hard for me to wrap my head around that.  The absolute terror felt by a child; a baby in fact.  This, to me, may be the most horrific crime of all.

But maybe there's another crime that's almost as bad- Silence.  We live in a world where minding our own business has changed.  With social media we mind everybody's business.  However, when it comes to personal family business we still feel like that's territory we don't tread on and people called out will tell us to "mind our own business".  "It's not your concern".  "Don't tell me how to raise my children".  For the most part that may be true.

My point is, in many situations like this, people know what's happening and don't say anything.  What is our obligation to these children?  Wouldn't you want to have the ability to save an innocent child's life?  We can't be sure but maybe if someone said something this tragedy could've been prevented.  Sometimes you can't just mind your own business.

One of the things I'm most proud of is that almost all the charity involvement with WRKR has a common thread: helping kids.  And one of the organizations that is instrumental in helping those who've been abused is the Community Healing Center.  If you find yourself in a situation where you can't mind your own business, call them and they will Help you do the right thing.
