Aubrey Pleasant is coming home to be the new Cornerbacks Coach for the Detroit Lions.

Pleasant graduated from Montrose in 2003 before heading to Wisconsin to play college ball. Pleasant ended his playing days after Wisconsin, but came back to Michigan to continue his career as a coach. After coaching at Grand Blanc, University of Michigan, and most recently with the Los Angeles Rams, as their Cornerbacks coach.

I've known Aubrey since high school, and he is one of the most genuine guys I've been lucky enough to meet. He was always a great athlete and football player, but he is an even better person. He has worked his way through the ranks to get where he is not. Pleasant has coached at every level, and his experience is exactly what the Lions need.

If you've never heard of Pleasant, the video above from Ryan Slocum gives you a snapshot of who he is. His love of the game is clear, but his genuine personality is the main thing that comes through.

Lions fans should be very happy about the new hire. Pleasant has helped make the Rams secondary one of the best in the league. He is also coming in at just the right time to help the Lions develop their young, but very talented defense. Pleasant will also be helping out on the offensive side of the ball as a pass game coordinator for Detroit.

MY CAUSE, MY CLEATS

Before Aubrey knew that he was coming home to coach the Lions, he still had Flint on his mind. While he was in LA, he worked with the NFL's My Cause, My Cleats campaign to help with the Flint Water Crisis.

Aubrey still has plenty of family here in Flint, and the tragedy that has been happening over the last decade has always been on his mind.

We are thrilled to have Aubrey back home, and I know this will only mean good things for the Lions and everyone he touches.
