It's no secret that show business people and groups give a lot of their time and money to those who need help.  We hear the stories all the time.  Some on a major scale and others may be random acts of kindness.  What we don't know is what we don't know.  By that I mean so much generosity goes unnoticed primarily by design.  However, up in Grand Rapids the boys from Metallica did something somewhat unusual and we got to find out.

According to a piece on woodtv.com, Grand Rapids Community College received $100,000 from the Metallica Scholars program to connect nontraditional students with, of all things, welding jobs.  Now the students are graduating debt-free!  How cool is that?  And, in case you're wondering, we really need welders right now.  But more than that, Metallica recognized the need to get a new generation into fields that weren't being replenished by the next generation.  I for one think more should be done to offer opportunities like this to give the next generation more choices than a liberal arts degree and $60,000 in debt.  Check out more of the story by clicking HERE.
