Michigan Residents Face Amazon Web Services Outage Chaos
This morning, there were a number of services, games, and apps that people in Michigan use heavily that experienced a blackout after a massive global outage from Amazon Web Services took place.
Because of the blackout, Michigan residents were not able to use apps like Amazon, Snapchat, McDonald’s, or games like Fortnite. In fact, airlines were affected by this as well, as CNN reported about the outage this morning.

During this time, requests may continue to fail as we work toward full resolution. We recommend customers retry failed requests. While requests begin succeeding, there may be additional latency and some services will have a backlog of work to work through, which may take additional time to fully process.
Luckily for consumers, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.
We are seeing significant signs of recovery. Most requests should now be succeeding. We continue to work through a backlog of queued requests. We will continue to provide additional information.
Downdetector reported that the following platforms were affected by the AWS outage:
• Amazon
• AT&T
• Canva
• Delta Air Lines
• Disney +
• Fortnite
• Hulu

As CNN describes, Amazon Web Services is Amazon’s internet-based cloud service that connects businesses to people using their apps or online platforms. This outage has caused a massive disruption, but hopefully, before the end of the day, services will be back in working order. Continue to monitor AWS for updates.
