Michigan Bill To Require Background Check On Gun Rentals

You can rent a gun?  I had no idea you could just rent a gun which, of course, means I had no idea you could rent a gun without a background check here in Michigan.  I have to admit that this is certainly an issue that needs to be addressed during times like these.

According to a story on WOOD TV 8, a guy lost ownership of his gun due to a court order then went to a pawn shop to buy another gun but the sale was stopped by a background check.  So then he went to a shooting range where he was able to rent a gun and was able to walk out with it.  He then used the gun to kill his ex-girlfriend and then himself.  So the next step would be to have background checks a shooting ranges.  Unfortunately, they do not have the authority to facilitate the process hence the bill being proposed.  Check out the whole story by clicking HERE.
