Can Michigan Ice Hockey Join Basketball In Championship Glory?
The University of Michigan has the opportunity to do something that no other college has ever done before, and it all rests with its hockey team.
The University of Michigan has captured its first basketball championship since 1989 after a 37-year-long drought. U of M can proudly say that they are the best team in the nation after defeating UConn 69-63.

This win adds the second national championship trophy the college has seen in the past three years, and this year, they have the opportunity to do something no college has ever done before.
If the U of M men’s ice hockey team wins the championship this year, they will become the first university ever to win a football national championship, a basketball national championship, and an ice hockey national championship within a three-year span.

That would be an unbelievable accomplishment, and right now it’s looking like that could very much be a possibility. The University of Michigan men’s team is facing off against Denver in the Frozen Four on Thursday, April 9 at 5:30 PM Pacific Time.
Denver‘s record this year was 27–11–3, while U of M went 31–7–1. If U of M wins, they will go on to play either Wisconsin or North Dakota in the national championship game on Saturday, April 11.
Denver most recently ended Western Michigan University's hopes of repeating as champions after beating them 6-2.
Michigan State was also bounced in the same round after losing to Wisconsin 4 to 3 in overtime. Michigan may be about to make history this week.
