Help Find Family of Michigan Man Whose WWII Red Cross Certificate Forgotten In Old Desk
There are so many great Michiganders who gave their time and effort during World War 2 that it's hard to recognize them all. But one former Michigander, who has since passed away, may have left an heirloom that should probably make its way back to his family.
Someone recently acquired an old piece of furniture that contained something special in it, as they describe:

I found this in a desk I had picked up to re-do. I am trying to see if I can find the family to return it to them. The name on the award is Hal Kendig. The picture is from Grant MI. The desk was made in Grand Rapids and sold in a showroom in Grand Rapids. So I believe this person live in this area. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Someone went through all the work to find out that Hall actually has family that are still alive, and a far way from Michigan. The woman, named Mandy did a quick search online and found that supposedly Hal was born on Dec. 30 1891, and passed away on Sep. 16th 1975:
Hal was never married and had no children. He taught high school English and auto mechanics in Denver. He lived with his parents until their deaths and then with his sister and her husband. His sister’s daughter-in-law, grandson, and great-grandson all lived in Ypsilanti during the mid-2000s, which is probably when the desk was acquired. Sometime after DIL passed, the others moved to Texas where it appears they are still living.
Does anyone know of these people?
