After The health officials sent out a warning about a salmonella outbreak linked to pre-cut melon, the retailers that carried the tainted fruit are responding. Walmart responded by pulling the melon in question off of store shelves in the affected states, while Kroger released a statement pledging to assist in the investigation.

The CDC says Caito Foods LLC on Friday voluntarily recalled pre-cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fruit medleys produced at its facility in Indianapolis. The states where people were sickened are Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio. WLNS reports, of the 60 reported cases of those sickened, over half live in Michigan.

The tainted fruit was sold in clear plastic clamshell containers at Costco, Jay C, Kroger, Payless, Owen's, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Walgreens, Walmart and Whole Foods/Amazon.
