MRC Industries in Kalamazoo has announced that they have kicked off their "Building for Belonging" campaign, as they have announced they have purchased and will be renovating a local facility in downtown Kalamazoo that they plan to use to bring together all of their programs and services under one roof.

The new building will be familiar to others, as it’s located at 407 E. Ransom St., which formerly belonged to Adam’s Outdoor.

I had a blast working with MRC Industries this year, taking part in their Kalamazoo Klassic 5K, which helped to raise money to fund the programs that MRC Industries operates in Kalamazoo, all of which go to empower adults, young and older, living with disabilities in our area.

Now that they’ll be operating in one building, it will most likely help keep things consistent and organized, as the organization continues to grow.

They say that they are excited to have their leaders share the vision for the project and comment on the progress of the fundraising and how this new consolidated facility will help improve getting access to services for individuals who are living with physical or cognitive disabilities in Southwest Michigan.

Whether it’s through art or being active in the community, MRC Industries is helping our community out in a big way, and this new facility will no doubt continue to strengthen their goal.

For more than 50 years, MRC Industries has empowered individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges to achieve greater independence, meaningful employment, and active participation in community life. As demand for these services continues to grow, MRC is taking a transformative step forward by investing in a centralized, fully accessible facility designed to better serve clients, families, and staff.
