Three miles southwest of Charlotte at the junction of Battle Creek Road and W. Kalamo Hwy is “The Olde School House”.

This former 1800’s one-room schoolhouse went through a few changes, eventually becoming Tirrell Farmstead Specialties. In December 2016 it was bought by Ron & Laura Goostrey and renovated to be The Olde School House.

Okay…but what is it?

The Olde School House specializes in healthy foods that are locally produced: breads, cakes, cheese, crackers, honey, milk, salad dressings, etc. Not only those, but pasture-raised meats as well: beef, chicken, lamb, and pork.

What else? Beverages, skincare products, jams & jellies, maple syrup, candies, snacks, knick-knacks, tea & coffee, condiments, greeting cards, and lots more unique items that you’ll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

While looking at a picture, I did happen to notice something curious at this structure before it became the current establishment…an odd figure standing in the window. It kinda resembles an alien…or a shadow person…or something else. I enlarged the photo to get a closer look and I could make out this small head with dark eyes. Take a look at the photos below.

Probably nothing more than furniture or someone's belongings, but it’s fun to use the imagination, right?

Check out The Olde School House’s web page for hours of operation, then take a trip over there and pick up some cool stuff!
