Jerald Jackson Called Police Feeling Unsafe Then Vanished At Electric Forest

The family of the young man who authorities say passed away by suicide during the Electric Forest event is claiming there may be cause to believe that there was foul play and he, in fact, did not die by suicide.

A recent Facebook post made by the family of Jerald Jackson suggests that, while mainstream media has accepted the official report from the police, they believe the 28-year-old from Chicago could have possibly been murdered by at least one of the people in a group of friends that he attended Electric Forest with in Michigan.

In a Facebook post, they explained their reasoning, expressing that they will not accept the death ruled as a suicide, which they say police are rushing to claim as the cause of death.

Jay had ZERO history of mental illness. He was the ONLY Black man in his friend group. Monday morning, he literally called the police to his campsite because he felt unsafe and tried to report an incident involving a "friend." Hours later, he vanishes—leaving his phone and his entire life behind. His "friends" drive all the way back to Illinois WITHOUT HIM. The next day, he’s found dead in the woods.

As they continue, they point out that this is not the first time something like this has happened, and although the topic may be difficult to discuss, it's more than about race; it's about justice:
