Today is the 69th birthday of one of most often forgotten guitarist of the 60's Peter Green.

He was a leader of the British blues movement also a founding member of Fleetwood Mac.  He also performed one of my all time favorite instrumentals the song, "The Supernatural".

Peter had some great songs with Fleetwood Mac.  You can read about ten of his best over at Ultimate Classic Rock.

"The Supernatural" is a song that pre-dates Fleetwood Mac.  He performed the song with John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers on the album, "A Hard Road", which came out in 1967.  The sounds heard on this classic  became a trademark.

I first heard the song when I put together my old blues show back in 1997.   I had a listener suggest I listen to early Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall.  I became a fan of both and still listen to those albums on occasion.

Peter would move on to record classics like, "Albatross", "Black Magic Woman" and "The Green Manalishi".

All great songs but it is one of his first songs, "The Supernatural" that will always be one of my favorites.
