The city of Battle Creek has announced that over 20,000 residents' drinking water has been contaminated, and the city is working diligently in trying to assess how they can get the water back to safe Total Trihalomethanes Maximum Contaminant levels again.

Recently, a letter was sent out to homes and businesses letting them know that although they were working on preventing further contamination of the water sources, the condition of the well led to a high spike in TTMC levels.

In a letter sent out to residents, the city described why the contamination happened, what's being done about it, and what people should do in the meantime. In the notice, they highlighted who was affected by the contamination

Pennfield Township residents living on the following streets are the only residents impacted: Bellevue Road, Garrison Road, 45 Park Avenue, 600-740 North Avenue, Brigden Drive, Hampton Avenue, Pickford Avenue, 69-187 Sharon Avenue, Burton Street, Hidden Lane, Raymond Road, 10-77 VanArmon Street, Charlemagne Blvd., Kimball Avenue, Roosevelt Avenue, Cooper Avenue, LaGrange Avenue, Toulouse Blvd., Darlene Lane, Maxwell Avenue, Wagner Drive, Dick Street, Mill Road, Willison Avenue, Eiffel Drive, 54 Montford Street.

Luckily, there are a lot of residents living in the area who have not been affected by the contamination:

Pennfield Township water customers that do not live on these streets have a different water source and are not impacted by this issue.
