New Sushi Bistro Oya To Replace Two Fellas Grill In Kalamazoo

The shopping center located off of Gull Road and Lake Crest Drive in Kalamazoo has seen many businesses come and go. Most recently, Two Fellas Grill, unfortunately, announced that it was closing, but it didn’t take long until another business took its place.

Filling up their former location at 5585 Gull Rd., #106 will be a new sushi and Asian bistro called Oya.

While many people believe that this building is cursed, many people on Facebook are excited for the chance to get some good sushi off of Gull Road, since the only option currently is either going to Meijer or stopping in at the buffet at Ten Ten.

There are some people who are complaining about “another Asian restaurant.“

Someone in the comment section pointed out the silliness of that complaint, as there are no two restaurants I like in the area:

Genuinely confused why everyone keeps saying “another Asian spot.” The American palate can’t differentiate these types of foods?? LMAO. Ten Ten is a buffet, and can’t even compare to the quality of food and options to that. Bangkok is Thai food and completely different. Gull Road needed a sushi spot, I’ve been saying this for years!!! It’s a completely different experience from those two restaurants.

 

There’s no word yet on when an opening date will be announced, but we will be keeping an eye out for signage as they will no doubt be opening within the next few months, and we can learn more about what they'll be offering.
