The flooding Grand River has caused many problems for the residents of Portland, but this may have been a first.

Portland based plumber Mic Underhill says it was the first time he ever had to bring a kayak in to find a shutoff valve in a basement.

Mic took some video of his exploits and posted them to the Portland, Michigan Facebook page.

In all my years of plumbing I have never kayaked in a basement to turn water off. We will beat the flood stay strong Portland! Underhill Plumbing is here to help. Big thanks to Barclay Home Improvement for helping me on this one.
