Things got heated on the racetrack as Portage native Carson Hocevar exchanged blows with fellow racer Ryan Blaney over the weekend.

The skirmish happened after Hocevar finished third at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 19, at the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, after an incident that happened on the racetrack between the two. Motorsport.com reported the incident that led to these two throwing hands after the race:

Ryan Blaney passed Carson Hocevar for second place late in the race, and when Hocevar tried to immediately cross him over, Blaney tried to block. Hocevar, who is known for his aggressive style, did not lift. Blaney crashed into the wall and saw his title chances take a major hit as he was unable to continue, finishing 33rd.

After the race was over is when Blaney approached Carson at a pretty quick pace and grabbed hold of him. Hocevar knew that if he didn’t act quickly, things would get ugly for him, which is when he commented on the altercation, which you can watch below:

About two seconds before they’re like “he might come over here” and then I saw him and I was like OK he’s moving pretty fast for a convo, and then he grabbed me and I was like OK. Well, I’m not gonna wait. I’ve seen enough of these. Yeah, I’m just gonna start swinging and see what happens.

It’s almost fitting that this altercation took place at Bristol, as there’s a history in NASCAR of fights at this racetrack, including Rusty Wallace throwing a water bottle at Dale Earnhardt, the scrap between Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle, as well as Tony Stewart’s fight with Matt Kenseth
