Presidential Brewing Company in Portage has announced its first-ever Baracktoberfest, a fall kickoff that celebrates the shift from summer to sweater weather with the beers and cider that make their return to the company around this time of year, introducing a brand-new beer.

The event will be held this weekend on Saturday, October 17th, when they open at noon, and this year they plan to pair their list of returning beers with a great local smokehouse.

The beers that will be making their return and debut are:

Ryesenhower (Rye IPA)
Barbara Bushels (Hard Cider)
***NEW RELEASE*** Marzen Van Buren (Märzen)
Jimmy’s Peanut Farm (Peanut Butter Porter)

For this new event, they have partnered with Barretts Smokehouse to off meat to pair with the featured Fall beers. They are bringing in 4 different kinds of brats that they will pair with each beer, and will be offering them as beer & brat flights. Here is the beer/brat pairing line-up:

Barbara Bushels + Apple Brat (finely diced cinnamon apples, maple brown mustard, bacon bits)
Jimmy’s Peanut Farm + Bacon Cheeseburger Brat (PB bacon sauce, cheddar, pickles)
Ryesenhower + Cowboy Butter Brat (grilled onions, garlic, black pepper, citrus mustard sauce)
Marzen Van Buren + Marzen Van Buren Brat (caramelized onions, cheddar, brown mustard).

The name of the event stems from the owner, Jake Lohse, and the first beer he ever made, which inspired the opening of Presidential Brewing Company, Oatbama. The beer is an Oat Stout, and at the time Obama was the President, so he combined the two for a cheeky play on words, which has become the standard at Presidential.
