It was sad to see Pavel Datsyuk leave the Red Wings last season to return to Russia.   Recently in his first year there, won a title with his current team.

According to M-Live,  Pavel's current team SKA St. Petersburg won the Gagarin Cup, the championship of the KHL. Unfortunately, he was injured before the final game and didn't play.  He was on the ice post game to celebrate the win with his teammates.

As I look back on the Red Wings season in which they missed the playoffs,  I wonder if he could of helped get them a few more wins.   Maybe, but after seeing the way the final game at the Joe Louis Arena went I think it was a good way to wrap up a down season.

Another highlight for Pavel this year was when he was named among the top 100 players in the history of the NHL.   He is no longer a Red Wing, but he will always be one of the greatest to ever wear the Winged Wheel.  Congrats on the championship!
