Growing up in the 90s was a magical time if you were a kid who liked cartoons. This was the height of the nickelodeon era, which ushered in fans for not only them, but also Cartoon Network and so many other great brands that produced quality, animated entertainment for us.

Which is why I was surprised to find out that one of the biggest voices in our childhood was from right here in Michigan.

Right off the bat, you may not recognize the name of Robert Paulsen, but he’s been in some of the most popular animated shows that we grew up watching, including Animaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Goof Troop, and so many other films and shows.

His most notable roles would be that of Yakko and Pinky in Animaniacs, as well as Raphael in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon that ran from 1987 to 1996.

He also returned to the franchise as the voice of Donatello for Nickelodeon‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

He was also the radio announcer for the Got Milk? Commercials, as well as the voice for the dog in the animated Nacho and Dog Taco Bell commercials.

This guy has done so much throughout his career and continues to voice act, even after defeating his throat cancer. It’s so cool that somebody who made such a big impact in my life lived in the same city that I did.

Recently, he was seen at the Detroit Lions game cheering on the team, which doesn't come as a surprise considering his love for Detroit sports. He is a huge fan of the NHL and the Red Wings. Rob continues to be a part of the entertainment industry and is a legend in his field.
