Whether you are a newcomer to the state of Michigan, or you’ve been here for quite some time, I feel, it’s my personal responsibility to tell everybody about the light show that my hometown puts on every Christmas. Growing up in Rochester Hills, Michigan, the holiday parade was a staple attraction every year and even more so once they announced the arduous task of lighting the entire downtown area with over 1 million lights.

The Lagniappe & Big Bright Light Show kicks off the 2023 season on Monday, November 20th. For nearly 2 months, people from around the state will be able to go to downtown Rochester and enjoy over 1.5 million points of light, as downtown Rochester recently announced how long the lights will stay up this season, going well into the new year:

Mark your calendars for Lagniappe & the kick-off of The Big, Bright Light Show as we cover the buildings of downtown with over 1.5 million points of glimmering light! We will flip the switch at 7 pm and the light show will continue to be aglow every night from 5 pm to Midnight through January 7, 2024! The Big, Bright Light Show is presented by Fox Automotive Group.

The coolest part about the light show is how every building has its own color scheme. We've provided a gallery below so you can check it out before hand, but there's nothing like walking downtown in the snow surrounded by the lights. I know it's still a little early to be talking about Christmas, but this is an attraction everyone can be excited for.
