Here’s How Much Michigan Raised For The Rocker 2 The Rescue Radiothon
This weekend was the day that we had been waiting for all month long. After a month of getting to know so many great organizations that are supported by Catholic Charities in Kalamazoo, the Rocker 2 the Rescue radiothon took place at Presidential Brewing Company in Portage on Friday, November 22 from sunup up till sundown.
In actuality, it all began at about 4:30 in the morning. That is when I started to load everything inside and set things up. By the time we went on air, we had everything we needed, including coffee, which proved to be very important.
But the amazing thing that caught us off guard was the number of people who showed up in the morning specifically. According to Jake, this was a heavier flow of people than they see normally for the breakfast all-day menu early.
But all day long the festivities continued, and we had some amazing generosity, including a donation from Jeff from Catholic charities, who between one and 3 o’clock would match up to $1000 of donations.
In that timeframe, we were able to raise $441, which his match turned into $882. As the fundraiser went into the night, Presidential Brewing Company was jampacked full of people, enjoying the drinks, food, company, and good cheer throughout the night.
By the end of the night, we were able to raise $2600 in cash and checks, and as we draw closer to Thanksgiving, we can’t thank our audience and our community enough for coming out and helping those who are less fortunate in the community.
We will find out the day before Thanksgiving, just how much we raised but it is very possible that we raised over $5000. That’s not bad for the first event, but you can bet we are going to shoot for the stars in 2025 as Catholic charities will be celebrating their 50th anniversary.
