After 50 Years, This Christmas Tradition Will Return Home In Michigan Homes
As we get into the holiday season, slowly, but surely we’re going to start re-watching the Classics that make Christmas time feel special to us. Classics like Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, A Muppet Christmas Carol, and so many others.
We would be remiss if we didn’t also bring up the classic. Rankin/Bass Christmas specials, like Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It seems that after more than 50 years, Rudolph is coming home to where he first debuted.

As NBC reported that Michigan homes would be able to watch the most beloved Christmas classic on their Michigan affiliate channel for the first time in over 50 years:
Talking about whether or not it was too soon to deck the halls, well first off Rudolph, the rednosed reindeer for the first time in over 50 years. This guy is returning to NBC. Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer is the longest-running holiday special in TV history and you can watch it here, where it belongs on Friday, December 6 the exact same day as it premiered 60 years ago as a part of the “ General Electric fantasy hour."
For the past five decades, the special has run on the CBS channels, but NBC was the first station to premiere the special, so it’s fitting that it will be coming home to its original station. The night before NBC also plans to air Frosty the Snowman on Thursday, December 5 at 8:30 PM.
The special will be a 75-minute broadcast and will look to capture its original magic. I, on the other hand, don't have cable and will be watching it on DVD, since you need all 428 streaming services to watch all the holiday specials.
