I have to admit this is the first I'm hearing of this new feature and I'm a little surprised it's being offered by Google.  I mean, Google Maps is great and, frankly, I don't know how we got anywhere completely unfamiliar without it.  Hey, I was driving 30 years without it and can't understand how I found where I was looking for.  Add to that the other features like getting the heads up on accidents/back ups on your way.  But now, like radar detectors before it, Google is getting push back from law enforcement.

In an article on detroit.cbslocal.com, to compete with traffic app Waze, which Google  owns, Google Maps is adding new features to its update, including the ability to see where officers have set up speed traps.  Law enforcement across the country would like Google to hold off saying it could tip-off drunk drivers to DUI checkpoints and encourage speeding.  Get more of the story by clicking HERE.
