Since 2019, Skinny Kenny’s BBQ at 7000 Stadium Dr. in Kalamazoo has been delivering amazing barbecue to the community through pop-up events, community events, concerts, graduations, weddings, and every other kind of celebration you can think of.

Sadly, that time has come to an end as they have announced that on November 8, 2025, they will be firing up the smokers for one last time.

Skinny Kenny’s Barbecue announced its closure through a heartfelt farewell on its Facebook page, which thanked the local community for supporting it and other local businesses.

The last six years have been a smoky, savory journey filled with blessings, thanks to you, our incredible customers, dedicated staff, and supportive community. From our restaurant to our food truck and catering events, your encouragement has meant the world. We are excited for what’s next: more time with our 10 grandkids, each other, and cherished friends.

If anybody is interested in starting their own food truck or barbecue place now might be the time to reach out to them because the owner, Ken said that they are going to be selling all their equipment, and encourage interested parties to stop by on their final day on November 8 from noon to 7 PM for one last pop-up event to inquire about the equipment.

Being in the restaurant industry is not an easy thing, and starting your own business can be very challenging. We wish them the best of luck, as well as anyone who may decide to buy their equipment to start their own BBQ business.

Inside Jackson, Michigan's Long Vacant Gilbert's Steakhouse

Listed for a quarter million dollars at the time, I was able to tour the former Gilbert's Steakhouse in June of 2024, a year before it would be torn down on September 17, 2025. Here's what this former Jackson, Michigan (technically located in Blackman Township), looked like a year before it was razed.
