Slain Kalamazoo Teens Identified; Deaths Deemed Accidental
Authorities in Kalamazoo say that the death of two teens Monday night was the result of an accident.
A witness told the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety that the two teens were "playing with" a firearm in an alley near the 1500 block of Clinton Ave, when the gun went off, fatally wounding one of them. The teen holding the gun was reportedly "distraught" and killed himself.
Police aren't saying which victim was accidentally shot, but they do say that there was no argument or altercation.
The two 17-year-olds have been identified as Marsavious Frazier and Daquarion Hunter. Hunter graduated from Loy Norrix High School in June, and Fraizer was a student at Phoenix High School.
The KDPS wants to remind people to be mindful of the proper handling of firearms; they say that the weapon in this case wasn’t stolen, but it wasn’t properly registered.
