Sleeping Bear Dunes Reaches Unbelievable Milestone

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is yet another Michigan gem that is somehow taken for granted.  The thing is, it's truly a national and even international treasure.  The Dunes have been awarded one of the best beaches in the world and one of the best places to hike in the country.  In addition, it's the best beach in Michigan, one of the best places to star-gaze in the state and it will cost you $2,000 to be rescued from The Dunes.  And now it has reached a milestone that should come as no surprise.

According to minews26.com, Sleeping Bear Dunes just welcomed it's 50 Millionth visitor!!!  This past Monday that visitor was Meghan Boertman along with her family.  It was their first visit to the Dunes and they were greeted with enthusiasm, gifts and an announcement of the milestone.  Meghan was heard to say she thought everyone was greeted that way.  As I mentioned earlier, many take this treasure for granted and I'm sorry to say I'm one of them.  Everyone in my family has been there except for me.  Maybe it's time I changed that.
