WARNING: Coffee Containing Botulism Recalled In Michigan
For those who enjoy a nice coffee in the morning to get their day started, like 99 % of the Earth's population, you may want to check your fridge or cabinet for a potentially dangerous product that could be fatal.
There's a coffee company located out of Wisconsin that is recalling their coffee product after they recently announced there may be some products with a small amount of the toxin, Botulism in the product.
What Products Are Affected?
The company Snapchill recently released the statement which was made public by the FDA:
06/17/2024, Snapchill LLC (Snapchill) of Green Bay, WI is voluntarily recalling all canned coffee products manufactured by the company, within the expiration date, because their current process could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin, botulinum toxin, in low acid canned foods.
What Exactly Is Botulism?
As the FDA explains, this a type of food poisoning that could potentially be fatal:
Botulism can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. Symptoms can begin from six hours to two weeks after eating food that contains botulinum toxin.
Any cans ranging from 7 oz to 12 oz that were sold in Michigan from Snapchill should be discarded right away, and if you fear you may have contracted the toxin, seek immediate medical attention. The effects of the toxin can be experienced at different times depending on the person, so monitor symptoms as needed.
