A major snowstorm has prompted Michigan officials to close the entire State government south of the Mackinac Bridge. Yoopers say "hold my Vernors."

The message, posted Monday, January 28 at Michigan.gov (the official website of the State of Michigan) reads:

Due to the emergency snow conditions impacting the state of Michigan, all state government offices in the Lower Peninsula will be closed on Monday, January 28, 2019, at 10 a.m.

Funny, they don't mention anything about the Upper Peninsula. Yoopers are a hearty bunch and it sometimes takes more than a foot of snow to close schools. We know this is a serious storm with the coldest temperatures in decades projected for Michigan and the midwest, we just thought it was funny that Yoopers were left to fend for themselves. Maybe they're commuting by sled dog to the government offices up North.
