The 'Greatest Hockey Player of All Time,' Gordie Howe passed away Friday at the age of 88. Howe had many iconic moments through out his long Hall of Fame career. Here are five memorable moments from the career and life of the man known as Mr. Hockey.

Detroit Red Wings legend Gordie Howe, who came to be known as "Mr. Hockey", has died at the age of 88. Arguably one of the two greatest hockey players of all time, Howe had been in fragile health for several years following a series of strokes, but had rallied in the past year after undergoing experimental treatments.

There was a sold out crowd in attendance at Joe Louis Arena Monday night to watch the Detroit Red Wings take on the Buffalo Sabres. They were also there to wish a very special Happy Birthday to Red Wings' great Gordie Howe, who will soon celebrate his 88th birthday.

The Detroit Red Wings have a storied history in the NHL.  That history includes one of the greatest players to ever play the game Gordie Howe.
