The Pontiac Silverdome was host to 4 first-round World Cup matches in 1994 including USA vs. Switzerland, the first World Cup match ever held indoors.

Built in 1975 as home to the Detroit Lions the Pontiac Silverdome was set to be demolished on December 3, 2017. The first attempt failed however a second attempt was successful.

Three countries will host the World Cup in 2026. United States, Canada and Mexico will all feature games throughout the tournament. Will Michigan have any matches this time around?

According To US Soccer, the USA Men's National Team will play a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Columbus, Ohio on March 29th.

According to U.S. Soccer, The Women's World Cup Champion U.S. Women's National Team will play a match in Detroit This September.

Congratulations to Team USA who advanced to the round of 16 in the World Cup.  They finished 2nd in Group G behind Germany.  The USA beat Ghana 2-1, had a 2-2 draw with Portugal and lost to Germany 1-0 in what was called the group of death.
