Our long time friend and former member of the Rocker Air Force Dan Moyle sent us the latest update on one of the coolest adventures we've ever been witness to: Talons Out Honor Flights.

Their mission is to get as many WW2 veterans to the Washington D.C. memorial as they can.  And time is an issue as we lose so many every month.  Thanks Dan for the update.

Two years after announcing our hub, Talons Out Honor Flight has flown almost 250 WWII & Korean War veterans to Washington, D.C. to see their memorials. Part of our success is reaching these veterans and their families & friends to ensure they apply with us to fly. Thank you for helping spread the word.

Success: 246 Michigan Veterans Have Been Honored with an Honor Flight

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (April 27, 2015) – With another 69 veterans from World War II and the Korean War having taken their Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., Talons Out Honor Flight has now honored 246 veterans with their “One Last Mission.”

“Yesterday was absolutely incredible,” said Talons Out President Bobbie Bradley. “Our Veterans are such amazing people, trusting us with their day and all that they'll experience. For many, sharing their stories is difficult. For others, it's a part of their everyday lives. Either way, we hope that after "One Last Mission" they truly understand that all they gave is as important today, as it was then. We thank them once again for their service and sacrifice.”

The numbers from Mission-IV:

  • 69 veterans honored

o  67 WWII vets, 2 Korea War vets

o  2 female WWII veterans

  • 3,500 community members at Loy Norrix High School
  • Nearly $1800 more raised, sending 3 more veterans on an Honor Flight

If you missed out on thanking these veterans for their service, please join us in 3 weeks. The next Honor Flights with Talons Out Honor Flight is May 16 out of Gerald R Ford Airport in Grand Rapids. We invite the public to join us at the Amway Hangar at the airport on May 16 to welcome home our Honor Flight.
