No two veterans are the same. Specifically, the needs of female vets differ greatly from those of their male counterparts. It's hard to not feel forgotten when the majority of veterans organizations focus on our fighting men. Well, Kalamazoo County, prepare to Stand Down. Join The Southwest Michigan Female Stand Down Thursday, December 14th from 11am to 4pm at the Western Michigan University on the third floor of the Bernhard Center.

So, what's the Stand Down? Twenty booths full of resources for our female veterans, information on civilian organizations - imagine all of your questions answered in one room; that's the Stand Down. There will be speakers sharing personal experiences with military sex trauma and post traumatic stress disorder, plus free dental, eye, and hearing screenings, spa services, employment information, and so much more. Their aim is to make our fighting women aware of the services available to them right here in our community.

Everyone is welcome, men, too! If you are not a vet, but you know someone who could use the resources, please invite them to the Southwest Michigan Female Stand Down, and for more information click here.
