Taylor Farms Got A CDC Reprieve Right After A White House Visit
An update made by the CDC has confused Michigan residents, as they are now saying Taylor Farms products have resulted in a false positive test for Cyclospora, the parasite that has been getting people sick over the last month.
This news comes strangely after Taylor Farms CEO visited the White House just before receiving the assumed outbreak reprieve. However, this is not the first meeting of the minds, as Taylor Farms made a $1 million donation to MAGA Inc., the pro-Trump super PAC, in March 2025, less than a week after the FDA announced it was delaying implementation of the "Food Traceability Rule."

Now, many people online are furious not only with them for walking back on their claims but also for turning Taco Bell into a scapegoat, when the truth is that Taylor Farms provides pre-packaged salad kits and shredded lettuce for many different restaurants and is still most likely the source of this problem, as the FDA is still connecting them as the source.
One person did not hold back from their feelings on a Reddit post, with similar beliefs:
There was no reprieve; Taylor Farms is still the implicated source of record. Whether a lettuce sample from TF is positive or negative does not change that.
Another person had a lot to say about Taylor Farms as a company:
Taylor Farms CEO and his family are billionaires for the worst reason; no surprise they'd visit (bribe) Trump. Taylor Farms' "success" is due to decades-long labor exploitation by using a "permatemp" model to cut costs, keeping workers trapped in third-party staffing agencies to deny them healthcare, overtime, suppress wages, and bypass workers' comp protections. Then there's the wage theft, lack of safety training, abuse of vulnerable migrant workers, and management threatening to send in ICE to crush efforts to unionize.
Another is holding Taco Bell to a higher standard than ever before:
My God, sometimes a simple sentence can shock me back into full comprehension of just how far we've fallen. Because I, too, trust Taco fu-cking Bell more than any department of our current government. By a lot.
