Happy Birthday to "Weird Al" Yankovic who turns 60 today (October 23rd).  As we celebrate Al, I remember the first time I heard Al's music.

If i remember right the first time I heard Weird Al would have been on MTV.  I didn't have MTV at my house in 1983 but I remember seeing an early video of his at a friends house.  I think it was for, "I Love Rocky Road".

The song was his parody of The Arrows and the Joan Jett and The Blackhearts classic, "I Love Rock 'n'  Roll".   After seeing the video I was hooked and became a fan of Al's work.

It wasn't until the release of his next album, "Weird Al" Yankovic In 3D that I was able to buy an album of his.

"Eat It", "I Lost on Jeopardy" and "Polkas on 45" are some of my all time favorites of his.   Over the years I've picked up various albums and songs and occasionally will go back and listen to him.

I was also a fan of his Saturday morning show, "The Weird Al Show" and his starring role in "UHF".

An artist who I think deserves a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.  If he never ends up being inducted into the hall, he should at least get some sort of recognition for his long career.
