The NHL Season gets started tomorrow night and one player who will not be seeing  the ice anytime soon is San Jose Shark Raffi Torres.

According to  ESPN and The Associated Press , Raffi Torres has received the longest suspension in NHL history. 41 games for his recent hit on Anaheim Duck, Jakob Silfverberg.

The hit happened Saturday night in a preseason game between the Sharks and the Ducks.

The hit was ruled as an illegal hit because Silfverberg's head was the point of contact. It was also deemed a late hit and would of been called interference.

Torres is no stranger to suspensions.  This is his fifth and most significant suspension in his career.

These types of hits are uncalled for and I'm glad to see that the NHL is looking out for this type of stuff.
