The Detroit Tigers were tied for the worst record in baseball.   One bright spot this season was the defensive play of Ian Kinsler.   He has once again been named a finalist for a 2017 Gold Glove.

He won the award last season and according to the story at M-Live, he is once again a finalist this year.   He joins Dustin Pedroia of the Red Sox and Brian Dozier of the Twins as finalists for 2nd base.

Kinsler is the only Tigers player named a finalist for this year.   Former Tigers outfielder Justin Upton of the Angels was named among the finalist for the outfield.   He was traded to the Angels back in August.

Other notable names nominated include: Anthony Rizzo, Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward from the Cubs.   Former White Sox and now Red Sox ace Chris Sale has also been named a finalist for Pitchers.

The awards are given out for both the American and National League and will be announced on November 8th.
