If you’ve ever visited Traverse City during the summer, you understand just how much of a rich diversity it holds when it comes to food. The city is pretty much a resort town and even in the winter is just as beautiful. But it’s during the summer that hundreds of thousands of tourists and visitors come for the sights and the tastes.

It’s so popular that it most recently was named in the top 10 best small-town scenes in the United States by USA Today’s Reader's Choice. Traverse City was named the fourth best in the country, touting some of the highlights from the area:

Known first and foremost for its beautiful freshwater beaches, Traverse City on the shores of Lake Michigan enjoys a buzzing food scene. Morel mushrooms grow in the area woods, and local chefs pair them with everything from local fish to farm-fresh eggs. Top dining options include Trattoria Stella by James Beard semifinalist Myles Anton, Filling Station Microbrewery and the Cordwood food truck.

Good Food & Drink In Traverse City

Traverse City does have some amazing food, but they're also home to North Peak Brewery as well as the Traverse City Whiskey Company. There are also some amazing food trucks that will post up downtown during the summer, so good food and drinks are always around the corner.

Ultimately the top spot on the list went to Lewisburg, West Virginia, but the fact that this small resort town in Northwest Michigan was placed in the Top 5 is pretty awesome.
