Chaos At Zap Zone XL Raises Safety Concerns For Families
Zap Zone XL recently had its grand opening inside the former Sears in Crossroads Mall, one week ago and already, we are getting reports that fights are breaking out and the area is being disrespected by unsupervised kids.
They acquired the building at 6780 S. Westnedge Ave, Portage, after purchasing the space in 2024 for nearly $3 million. At nearly a hundred thousand square feet, this entertainment center features bowling, laser tag, axe-throwing, bumper cars, go karts, private event rooms, and apparently enough space to start fights.

Although the company has not made any statements, I have seen multiple posts on Facebook that allude to fights that broke out over the weekend, apparently started by children late in the night.
A Facebook post from a woman who was going out to have a good time. Seems to suggest this is a problem.
And just like that, Zap Zone in the tubes! Can’t take y’all kids nowhere. Fighting already! I just wanted to have a little fun after 9:30 (my bedtime) for once. Zap Zone XL, welcome to Kalamazoo, you have to make your spot 21 and up after 10:30 pm. We were rooting for you! Learn from this!
Another woman in the comments section claims that fights are the least of their worries
The skating rink had holes in the floor, there was duct tape on the benches and chairs, the bumper cars and go karts kept breaking down, the pixel floor is the size of a small bedroom, definitely not what we saw online. The mini golf the balls kept getting caught in the tunnels, half the games were not working, and half were old and broken down. The escalator was broke you had to walk up and down the stairs to go from place to place. The bathrooms were disgusting. Half of the staff are just standing around, not doing anything.
