Woman.  Woah-man.  Wooooooooooooman.

Poetry is an interesting art form. It doesn't really stick to any one formula. If you like simplicity, the 5-7-5 pattern of Haiku is satisfying. Love to laugh? I'm sure I could charm you with a few blue limericks in my arsenal. There's the sweeping epic, free verse, beat, and so many more. But there's one common thread that binds them together; not all of them can be good, and nothing is more fun than intentionally bad poetry.

Portage Public Library is having an after hours Bad Poetry Night, Friday, April 29th. Festivities kick off at 7:00! Refreshments and rubber chickens will be provided, with prizes awarded for the worst poem ever. What qualifies? Reading a bad poem of your own, reading a beautiful poem badly, reading a poem that is infamous for being bad - anything goes!

Personally, I'm going with interpretive dance.

Please register in advance by visiting the information desk, by phone [(269) 329-4544)], or check out their events calendar!

I'll leave you with a haiku that took all morning (three minutes) to perfect:

You are invited
