Local Bands Compete For $5,000 In Battle Of The Bands

For one local band in Southwest Michigan, it’s gonna be a very lucrative fall, as Penetrator Events are planning a battle of the bands where the winning band is set to get $5000 cash.

Dubbed Battle Creek of the Bands, they recently posted on Facebook that they are looking for local cover bands to join their battle of the bands competition, which will take place over three days, one of which has yet to be determined.

Regardless, on their Facebook post, they let everybody know ahead of sign-ups that the competition would be taking place.

We’re putting together a Battle of the Bands with a $5,000 cash prize for the winner, and we need your help! We’re looking for rock bands with amazing cover songs to compete in a qualifying round (May – TBD, July 9, or September 11). Each event will feature three bands, and two will advance to the finals at Kellogg Arena in downtown Battle Creek on November 14, 2026.

As they mentioned in the post, the unofficial sign-up sheet has not been revealed yet; however, when they officially launch their search, they will most likely look for some kind of audio or video performance to whittle down their selections.

It sounds like battle of the bands events are much more financially beneficial to bands these days. Back when I was a teen in the early 2000s, I remember you had to sell tickets to these kinds of events, which was basically the only way you could get people to support you, and almost secure your win depending on how the judging went.
