The world is beginning to move faster and faster toward renewable, and reusable energy sources. And Michigan, not wanting to be left behind, is hoping on the train for Clean Energy.

In fact, this fall, a letter was signed, and sent to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer by some of the Titans in Michigan's business world, claiming they are all-in on creating a 100% clean energy environment for the state, starting with their companies.

The letter, written back in September urged the passage of "strong, decisive clean energy policies," which would be anchored by a plan to achieve 100% clean electricity to cut pollution in the state. Likewise, it would attract investment to Michigan, create new jobs, and reduce utility costs for businesses AND home owners.

"Passing legislation to achieve 100% clean energy while prioritizing affordability, equity, and job creation is an important step toward building a more just net zero economy that will enhance the vitality, competitiveness, and growth of our state. We stand ready to work with you and offer our experience, expertise, and partnership in passing this important legislation."

The heads of five major Michigan companies signed the letter with their own contributions to what could be an environment-saving bill.

At this time, the legislation is under consideration by the Michigan legislature, and could create laws that Gov. Whitmer put in the Healthy Climate Plan back in 2022.

In addition to the clean energy pledge, the businesses also said they would support improvement to the state's energy waste reduction standard, more consideration for affordability, climate, and equity decision-making, they want to maximize opportunities to utilize federal clean energy investments, and update zoning laws to streamline the permitting and siting of renewable energy projects.
