While it's cold outside, west Michiganders can hold tight the anticipation that Spring is coming, and with it, the official start being kicked off with Oberon Day at Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo.

In past year, it does signal the official start of warmer weather in Michigan, and it brings several different versions of the beloved wheat ale. But this year, Bell's is teasing, possibly, a new version.

Officially, Bell's Brewery announced that Monday, March 25th will be Oberon Day, when much of Kalamazoo shuts down to celebrate the start of spring, and the re-release of our favorite Summer Wheat Ale. Brewers with Bell's often come up with creative variations of the beer to celebrate its release.

Last year, a variety pack was released with a Mango Habanero, Citris, and cherry version of the beer, but on Oberon Day, you can obviously expect any number of other variations that will ONLY be available on that day.

But this year, Oberon is teasing something new, and "EXTRA" special.

Yep, the word that rhymes with "Dandy" is definitely "Shandy," and Bell's seems to be working up some unique flavors for this year's batch.

Confirmed are Lemonade, Tropical, and Cherry Limeade Shandy beers, which are typically just beers mixed with a type of citrus soda. In the past, of course, Oberon has made different flavors of the beer. But those were just added flavors. This time, the Shandy will add an extra kick to the recipe.

But we also expect there to be a number of different Oberon varieties that AREN'T shandy beers as well.

So mark it on your calendars, March 25th, downtown Kalamazoo is gonna be a party.
