The Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center is one of the gems in our community and we should take every opportunity we can to help keep miracles happening at this wonderful place.  Our good friend Tara East will be on tomorrow morning to talk about this one-of-a-kind facility, but I didn't want to wait until then to give you the heads up one of those "opportunities" I was referencing.

Saddle (er... lace) up for a rootin' tootin' good time with the Cowboy Trail Run!  Participants will be hoofin' it over approximately 5k, 10k (new!), or 1k of genuine-bonified horse trails packed with natural obstacles to test their grit.

All finishers will be certified "Cowboy Tuff" and be welcomed back to an after party packed with a Texas style breakfast, a Hudsonville Ice Cream Bar, prizes, and live-on-site 102.5 country radio broadcast!

Fun is expected, dirt is inevitable, and costumes are encouraged. We can't wait to see you at the ranch!

The History:

The Cowboy Trail Run was created in 2012 in an effort to better utilize Cheff Center's beautiful trail system as well as raise funding and awareness for two wonderful causes: the Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kalamazoo.  Since then, the event has grown and changed according to participant suggestions and the opinions of area experts, blossoming into an event we are extremely proud to host.  For 2015, we've even expanded to include a wonderful 1 loop 10k course!

What Makes This Event So Special?

First and foremost, the terrain.  The Cowboy Trail Run is one of our area's only events taking place almost entirely off road.  We're not going to lie, surviving the challenging course can be something to brag about!  Regardless of fitness level, participants have a great time soaking in the scenery and the unique atmosphere--which makes number two on the list.  The atmosphere at this run is extremely unique.  You can't get a whole lot more country than this!  From the horse trails, to the real live horses, and country/rock music, we're pretty good at horsin' around.  The event is extremely family friendly with a fun run, playground, ice cream bar, and plenty to do--EVERYONE can have a great time.

Last, but not least, the cause.

Cheff is an AMAZING organazation that changes lives on a daily basis.   Cheff is not supported by the government and relies heavily on donations and fund raising efforts to keep its doors open. Every penny raised makes an impact RIGHT HERE in our community helping those with special needs.
