The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre's second Carver Center Studio production this season, The Father, opens this Friday, February 8th. Andre is 80 years old. A former tap dancer (...or engineer?), he lives with his daughter Anne and her husband Antoine (no... not Antoine. Pierre? Pierre.) One thing Andre is sure about is that he's still wearing his pajamas and can't seem to find his watch. Deeply poignant and darkly humorous, The Father explores life with dementia.

According to a press release from the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, director Atis Kleinbergs brings his real-life experience as a clinical social worker into the rehearsal room. Along with Cassidy Ardelean, the Program Coordinator for the Michigan Great Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, they approach this delicate subject matter with both reverence and humor.

The Father plays in the Carver Center Studio February 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30pm and February 10 and 17 at 2:00pm. General Admission tickets are just $10 and can be purchased by clicking here, or by calling the Civic Box Office directly at 269-343-1313. When making ticket arrangements, please keep in mind that this production is recommended for audiences age 12 and up.
