This upcoming season will see the Detroit Tigers honor a few of their former players, as well as one of their recent stars.  They are set to honor former outfielder Torii Hunter in June.

According to the Detroit Tigers,  Torii Hunter will be honored with this year's Willie Horton African American Legacy award.    The award will be presented on June 10th as part of the 16th Annual Negro Leagues Weekend.

The former Tigers outfielder, who also played for Minnesota and Anaheim,  will be honored in a ceremony before the game on June 10th against the Cleveland Indians.

Past award winners include: Gary Sheffield, Chet Lemon, Lou Whitaker, Larry Herndon and Gates Brown.

This is just one of many honors for former Tigers players this season as both Alan Trammell and Jack Morris will have their numbers retired in August.  The 1968 championship team will also be celebrated the weekend of September 7th-9th.
