Documentary On Hockey Pioneer Willie O’Ree To Air On ESPN 2
Willie O'Ree was a pioneer in the sport of hockey. A great documentary on his life is scheduled to air on ESPN 2 through out February.
According to the NHL, the film, "Willie" will air four times in February on ESPN 2. It will also be available on ESPN Streaming On Demand during the month.
The documentary features home movie footage, interviews and first person accounts of the life and career of Willie O'Ree. O'Ree opened the door for players with diverse and ethnic backgrounds in the sport of hockey.
O'Ree played parts of two seasons in Boston and Montreal and spent more than 20 years in professional hockey. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto in 2018.
Interviews in the documentary include NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, NHL Players Wayne Simmonds and Devante Smith-Pelly, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and more.
