Let me start off by saying that I'm sure that not every location of the hotel we mention in this article are not ALL terrible, but the fact that other people out there are experiencing the same issues that I experienced while on vacation, is not a good sign. There are a few hotels that people are calling out for being the worst you can stay at, and I have conflicting feelings about them being paired together.

Reader's Digest and Hoyt Livery are both in agreement that if you ever have to stay in a hotel, the two you should be avoiding both have numbers in their name, but it's in my opinion that the lower of the two numbers is SO much better than the larger number.

Super 8

Both sources claim this hotel chain is anything BUT super, and from my experience I would have to agree.

What Was My Experience In An Ohio Super 8?

The first thing I noticed when I checked into a Super 8 was the blotches of nasty stains on the carpet, which easily was from the early 80s. Once we got into the room, my friend looked at me and said, "I'm gonna need you to do something about your friend in the bathroom." I was seriously confused.

I walked into the bathroom and there was a German cockroach on the wall. Cool. After I crushed & flushed that guy I made sure all the bags were zipped tight. I took off my shoes and right away felt like I was walking barefoot on a sticky movie theatre floor. That's my one-night experience. I got to bed and got the hell out asap the next morning.

Thank GOD For Motel 6

Once I got to Laurel, MD I checked into a Motel 6 and not only was it clean, it was quiet and there were no cockroaches in sight. So as much as those two sources say you should avoid Motel 6, I have never had a bad experience there.
