One thing we are lucky to have in this area of Michigan is many places to see great theater.  I recently had the chance to experience once again a gem that is The Great Escape Stage Company  in Marshall.

I never knew this place really existed until a few years ago when my wife asked me if I would go with her to see a play featuring a co-worker of hers.  I agreed and we got to experience this little theater which is next to Schuler's in Marshall. The show we saw then was called "Grey Gardens" which surprisingly I enjoyed.

This theater is not an ordinary theater as it is very intimate and you actually enter from a small door on the side of the building.  I think the small space actually adds to the experience of the show.

My Wife and I recently went to another show of their's this time it was a classic called, "Arsenic and Old Lace".  I have heard the name from the film  that was actually based on this play.  I have never seen the film or the play so didn't really know what to expect.

It is a black comedy and My Wife and I experienced it on Halloween, which fit into the day as  It involved murder, a mad criminal, a guy who thought he was Teddy Roosevelt and a proposal among the chaos.

It was a fun show that if I had only one thing bad to say about it was it was pretty long (almost 3 hours long).  Great job by the cast.  I may actually seek out the film version of this show.

It is a cool little theater that I hope to check out again. Get more details on the theater and their upcoming schedule here.
