Fire has been in the news a lot, lately. Hundreds in California have been left homeless in the wake of unrelenting wildfires. The recent Kalamazoo fire, caused by fireworks, is a reminder that the smallest spark has dire consequences. When it comes to your family's safety, you know you need a plan.

In honor of Fire Safety Month, Lowe's is holding a Family Fire Safety Day. Thanks to E.S.C.A.P.E. Inc, You'll get free 9-volt batteries and smoke alarms, learn how to escape from smoke, and Jake the Fire Safety Dog will be on hand to teach the kids how to crawl to safety. Plus, you could win free fire safety items or the Halloween Costume Contest for the kids (prizes awarded at 11am). Portage Firefighters will be on hand and they're bringing an engine along to take a tour of!
