The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre is opening their 2019-2020 season with the Tony award winning Matilda the Musical. Based on the classic book by Roald Dahl, follow the story of Matilda, an adorable 5-year-old who has a love of books that would melt any teacher's heart. With the help of Miss Honey, oh, and her gift of telekinesis, she overcomes obstacles in her family life and school and gets a whole new lease on life. To say it's charming is just not doing this show justice.

Interested in seeing the Kalamazoo's season opener for free? Of course you are! Volunteer to be an usher. Your duties would include greeting and assisting patrons, helping with concessions or coffee during intermission, or simply helping guests find their way around. As a thank you, you will get assigned one complimentary seat to see the performance. Get the whole family involved and share the value of volunteering and the magic of theatre! Ushers must be at least 12 years old. Those under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Usher spots are filling up quickly, but there are still some performances you can volunteer for:

  • Friday, September 20th - 7:30pm
  • Thursday, September 26th - 7:30pm
  • Friday, September 27th - 7:30pm
